Sports Injuries- muscle strains and sprains-
Strains, sprains, tendonitis and bursitis can all result from sudden excessive
tension on a muscle or tendon or by repeated muscle contractions that fatigue
the muscle or tendon. Proper stretching and warm-up will help prevent injuries
as well as avoiding overdoing it. All injuries should be treated with rest,
ice, compression and elevation of the affected area. Additional supplements
of vitamin C and bioflavonoids
will help promote healing.
Herb of choice-
Bromelain- the protein digesting enzyme from pineapple has been
shown to be effective in reducing inflammation and swelling, and to decrease
pain and healing time.
Dry in capsules(1800-2000 mcu)- 250-750 mg three times a day between
meals.
Other herbs- Curcumin, Ginger,
Echinacea, Licorice,
