Constipation-

Constipation affects several million Americans on a regular basis. The most common cause is a low fiber diet and physical inactivity. Constipation can also result from a wide variety of medications, as well as a number of medical conditions including diabetes, low thyroid, irritable bowel syndrome, tumors and neurological problems. Overuse of laxatives and enemas can result in dependence on them for bowel function. The best therapies for constipation are increasing dietary fiber, especially fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of water and getting regular physical exercise. Having a regular time to defecate (after breakfast or exercise) will train the bowel. Never suppress an urge to defecate.

Herbal treatment-
Psyllium seed-this natural source of fiber from the plantain plant is vey safe and effective for constipation. Because it works by absorbing water and creating bulk in the intestine to stimulate a bowel movement, it is very important to drink lots of water. Some products contain sugar which is not necessary for it to work.
Dry powder- Mix 1 tablespoon in a glass of water, mix and drink immediately. Follow with another glass of water. Use 1-3 times a day.

Other fiber containing herbs- Flaxseed, Fenugreek Seeds, Yellow Dock
